IpadPalooza South Texas
This month’s recipient of Postscripts Fresh Ideas recognition goes to McAllen ISD for hosting iPadPalooza South Texas earlier this month. The one-day event, which originated in Austin by Carl Hooker, focuses on the creative use of technology to engage students in learning. According to an article in the McAllen Monitor, McAllen ISD began providing students with iPads and iPad touches several years ago and was the first in the nation to provide them to all students in pre-kinder through 12th grade. Since then, the district has committed to training teachers to use web tools and apps to increase student engagement through new technology. iPadPolooza South Texas was one of five such events in the country.
