The TxSSC Issues Model Policies and Procedures to Establish and Train on Threat Assessment

The Texas State Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) has issued model policies and procedures consistent with the requirements of Texas Education Code (TEC) 37.115 for public school districts and charter schools in establishing and training threat assessment teams in Texas.

The policy document reflects research-based best practices that are aligned with TEC requirements. It includes applicable definitions, a cross-reference to the applicable section of the TEC, and an eight-step guide to building a threat assessment program.

For updates to district policy, TxSSC has worked with the Texas Association of School Boards in recommending a school board FFB (LEGAL) and (LOCAL) for Threat Assessment.  The full TxSSC model policy document can be accessed HERE.
