Texas students with significant disabilities that have been affected by school closures due to COVID-19 can still apply for the SSES grant—Supplemental Special Education Services. TEA manages and disperses these funds, and students and their families can access the application through an on-line account.
Families can use this on-line account for things such as textbooks, special education materials, and speech therapy. Special education students who qualify may be granted up to $1500 for assistance to help offset lost educational progress during the past school year.
The application was set to close on June 30th, but the deadline is now September 30th. A student must be currently enrolled in a Texas public school since 2019 to qualify.
