EEOC Defines its Enforcement Priorities

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has outlined a set of enforcement priorities tied directly to President Trump’s executive orders, with emphasis on religious‑freedom cases, DEI‑related discrimination, anti‑American bias enforcement, and federal‑sector policy changes.

The agency announced increased enforcement of religious‑discrimination protections and cites record monetary recoveries, multiple lawsuits, and Commissioner’s Charges involving alleged anti‑Christian bias, antisemitism, and failures to accommodate religious objections to workplace policies.

The EEOC also emphasized investigations into DEI‑related discrimination, asserting that some employer diversity programs have resulted in unlawful race‑ or sex‑based decision‑making. These efforts are tied to executive orders aimed at limiting or eliminating DEI practices within federal agencies and federal contracting.

Another priority highlighted is enforcement against anti‑American national‑origin discrimination, where employers allegedly favored foreign workers over U.S. citizens. The EEOC notes subpoena actions, settlements, and coordination with other federal agencies through Project Firewall.

Finally, the EEOC outlined several federal‑sector reforms, including rescinding prior guidance related to gender identity, reaffirming sex‑based rights for women, and issuing memoranda to standardize legal interpretation and procedural fairness in federal EEO cases.
