The Student Discipline Handbook – 9th Edition

Making student discipline decisions in Texas is not easy. The discipline provisions found in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code are lengthy and complex. Part of the complexity relates to references in these provisions to other federal and state laws. Any administrator who has had to face the unhappy experience of a possible student expulsion, for example, is aware that the definitions of certain offenses are contained not in the discipline laws but in the Texas Penal Code.

In addition to offering an easy-to-use resource for making effective and legally defensible student discipline decisions, the Student Discipline Handbook satisfies the requirement in Section 37.018 of the Texas Education Code that each teacher and administrator be provided with a copy of the student discipline laws found in Chapter 37. This newest edition incorporate cases and legislative action as of September 2015.
